Our Group Community Relations Team, along with some of our family members, selected Special Olympics of Missouri for our for our spring project. Nearly 40 teammates volunteered to act as coaches, buddies, cheerleaders and judges for the annual competition.

In May, Group 03 participated in the 18th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on May 10th, and this year was a banner year. It was our first year as a sponsor and it was a success. Enterprise came in sixth as a team by raising over $10,000 in addition to the $5,000 sponsorship. We had 204 employees, friends and family sign up to attend.

In June & July, 03WW provided volunteers to the Atlanta C5 Youth Group. C5 is Coca-Cola sponsored summer camp for young people working hard to "get somewhere." The challenges leading to the campers' dreams and goals are a little easier when they know their efforts are supported. Our ERAC volunteers provided the entertainment for the campers by leading relay races and team building activities.

The HR Department and summer Interns participated in the United Way Day of Caring on June 7, 2008. Our project was with Rainbow Operations where we staged a carnival and cook out for children and adults with disabilities.

A group of employees went to Riley Hospital for Children to spread some cheer as the Easter Bunny and his helpers. We teamed up with a corporate account, Montgomery Aviation, and helped host their 2nd annual Fly-In and Open House. All proceeds from the event went to the Down Syndrome Foundation. Our 2nd annual Family Night at the Ballgame for our employees and accounts at the Indianapolis Indian’s game was a big hit! We were able to donate over 300 children’s books and a check to the Julian Center, a shelter for abused women and children.

The Chicago Groups Female Leadership Summit was held in June 2008. Approximately 100 Level II and III Females attended the summit and the theme was “Branding Your Success”. The morning was a workshop entitled ‘The Power of an Intentional Brand” and the afternoon included breakouts led by RVPs.

This year we volunteered at CAM – Capable Adolescent Mothers which is a non-profit program that teaches adolescent mothers parenting skills, provides a place to live and assists with their continuing education. We dug up weeds and planted flowers in the beds in the front and back of the center.

We are excited to announce that greater Twin Cities United Way chose our group 19’s campaign for 2008 as the winner of the Twin Cities “Best Emerging Leaders” Campaign. We had tremendous results with our Emerging Leader and Leadership Givers and thank the employees who made such an impact in our community.

The Northern California ELCO was invited to participate in a Team Building event with Group 23 and Group 30 Loss Control offices on June 27. The event was planned by Thomas Moulton as a way to promote cooperation between his Group and Group 30 Loss Control. He invited ELCO to meet more personnel in all the regions.

26 employees from Car Sales (24MM) and Fleet Management (1Y99/L1/L2) teamed up to participate in the Paterson Habitat for Humanity’s Corporate Challenge. Several employees helped to paint a house at one Habitat site while most worked outside in the sun to frame a house. Despite the heat, the employees completed their tasks and maintained the construction schedule.

This year, the men from our accounting department challenged the men from our remarketing department to a mustache growing contest for charity. Each person put money into the pot and the teams chose a charity. They helped raise money, and at the end of the week, held a vote within the Admin building and Level 3 Managers to see which team had the best mustaches. The winning team was the Accounting Team and the money was donated to the Tucson Urban League.

In June 2008, Group 29 employees participated and sponsored three local American Cancer Society Relay for Life events in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse as well as the National Kidney Foundation walk in Hamburg, NY. We had over 50 employees participate in the events.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s 3299 Administrative Headquarters welcomed home Jonathan Leigh from serving in Iraq. Jonathan (Sergeant First Class) is a 15 year employee currently working in ELCO Administrative Services for Southern California as a Liability Claims Administrator and spent 11 months in Iraq. The Southern California Group Administrative offices hosted a “Welcome Home” American BBQ lunch for him and over 300 campus employees. The “Welcome Home” banner was signed by Jack Taylor, Andy Taylor, Jo Ann Kindle, Don Ross & Pam Nicholson. Jonathan returned to work on April 28, 2008.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car of SW Florida (Group 35) teamed up with the Dr. Piper Center for their first annual legacy run/walk, an event to celebrate Dr. Piper’s legacy of mentoring children and for her compassion to the frail Elderly in our local community. During this event we had over 20 employees that participated in the run, handed out water at the two Enterprise water stations, ran the Enterprise booth or oversaw the children in the bounce houses. This event was a great success and we have been invited and our excited to participate again next year!

Team Hawaii led a successful United Way Campaign! The grand opening of our new Honolulu Airport facility was very exciting! Not only can we say that we have the best team in Hawaii, but now we also have the best airport facility in Hawaii!

38AA was excited to participate in our spring Adopt-A-Class party. This year we had a kickball game with our adopted 2nd grade classrooms at Roberts Paideia Academy. At this event, we were happy to present the Adopt-A-Class foundation with a $2,500 Foundation donation to go towards AAC field trip transportation.

We were invited to participate in a March of Dimes event by our friends at Farmer's Insurance and had a great time supporting such a worthwhile cause. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The mission is implemented through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. Special thanks to Lisa Zellmer and Sharon Ellis for working the event and spending their Sunday making a difference. It was also a big boost to our great relationship with Farmer's Insurance.

Our Hallandale Beach location became Florida's first designated E85/flex-fuel location with 25 percent of the rental fleet comprising of E85-capable flex-fuel vehicles. ERAC’s debut also coincided with the launching of the first Broward County E85-Ethanol Fuel gas station. Regional Vice President – Tori Patrick and Business Manager – Melissa Malone were also highlighted as the event was covered by several of our local media.

41AA sponsored and participated in the 2008 Hands on Day thru the United Way of Palm Beach County. It is a county wide day of caring and community service events. Our employees painted a home and this was 41AA's 5th year sponsoring and participating in the event. We are strengthen our communities one neighborhood at a time.

The Diversity Team Community Committee of 41EE hosted their 2008 Casino Night on February 29th, 2008. Proceeds from this event went to serve the Citizens for a Better South Florida, a charity promoted local environmental programs. The event generated $7,807.55 and Enterprise Foundation added $2,500 to the donation.

The day consisted of a presentation informing our college/university contacts about Enterprise's Environmental Platform and, as a gift, each received a Dwarf Alberta Spruce to take home! On Saturday, June 14th, Group 50 held our 15th annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Real Gift Foundation. We were able to donate $20,000 to the Real Gift Foundation. This foundation assists homeless children in the Phoenix Area. The money is spent on educational materials to ensure the under privileged and homeless children in the Valley have an equal playing field for educational development. We had over 150 golfers and 30 sponsors participate in the tournament which awarded $10,000 in prizes. This event emulates our founding value statement of “Strengthening our community one neighborhood at a time.”

C1 participated in the 12th annual London Cares Curbside Food Drive from June 13-20. For the We donated 3 cargo vans and 6 employees worked each day to collect the food left at the curbside. We also had two food raising (as well as monetary donations) BBQ’s at two of our local London branches. In total the food drive raised over 99,000 lbs of food for the London Food Bank. Special mention to Jackie Hale who organized all the employees and the food raiser.

In the past few years G6 has been involved with helping needy children and young adults. This year we participated in a Go-Kart Race for the second year running.
